Mathematics

The State of Indiana has established academic standards that clearly outline what students should know and be able to do at each grade level.

At all grade levels the study of mathematics includes:

Number Sense

Computation           

            K - simple addition and subtraction

            1 – addition and subtraction

            2 – addition and subtraction with regrouping

            3 – simple multiplication and division

            4 – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole numbers

               -  addition and subtraction of simple fractions and decimals

            5 – multiplication and division of whole numbers

                - addition, subtraction, and simple multiplication and division of fractions and decimals

            6 – solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers

                  - solve problems involving fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, and percentages

Algebra and Functions

            6 – solve simple algebraic equations

            7 – Pre-Algebra course

            8 – Algebra I course and take Indiana Algebra I End-of-Course Assessment

Geometry

Measurement

            4  - solve simple problems of perimeter and area

            5 – solve problems involving perimeter and area, volume of simple objects

            6 - solve problems involving perimeter, area, volume of various geometric figures

Data Analysis and Probability 4/5/6/7/8
