August 25, 2023 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Students - I hope you had a good week. Thankfully we were able to get through the heat wave without any major incidents and we are looking forward to more tolerable days next week. I’ve asked our Teachers to reflect, over the weekend, on student academic and behavioral progress and to begin reaching out to parents next week if there are students at risk in either area.  The first quarter interim period ends on September 15th, which is only 12 more days of school from today. The sooner we address issues, the sooner we can work together to resolve issues.
Behaviorally, I sincerely believe that 99.9% of our students know right from wrong and what the proper, expected choices are.  Parents, teachers, priests, Sister and staff repeatedly teach and model for students our Christian values and virtues. Most who misbehave, especially our students in grade 3 and above, willfully make their poor choices - mostly seeking attention. Please discuss with your child the importance of being respectful of adults and considerate of classmates. I try to be fair and merciful regarding student discipline, however chronically disruptive students undermine the mission of our school and may be asked to enroll elsewhere. As this is the beginning of a new school year, students have a chance for a fresh start and positive choices. Let’s focus on the positive, correct those who are straying, and have a strong year of respect and consideration of others through word and deed.
In closing, I am still looking to fill two positions as we begin the year. We still need a Computer Teacher and a Grade 3 Maternity leave. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested, please contact me and we can discuss possibilities. May your weekend be filled with Christ’s peace.  Sincerely - Rob S.
