Dear Parents and Students  -  Please pray for our Grade 2 students who will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Saturday morning, December 2nd, at 10:30 am in the Church.
Our Teachers and Parents have worked hard to prepare them, and I know each and everyone of our students are ready and excited for the day! I thank you for your prayers for these students and I thank you for sending your children to our St. Charles Borromeo School!

Congratulations to our students who performed during our delightful Christmas Concert last evening. The performance delighted those in attendance! Ms. Bassett does great work directing our Band and Orchestra students, with assistance from Mrs. Ensley. Mr. Jenkins has our Chorus and Hand Chimes sounding heavenly! There is much work put into these performances by our students and their directors, and we appreciate all that their artistic talents bring to our school community!  Thanks to all involved for helping to focus our hearts and minds upon the true joy of Christmas - the birth of Jesus! -Rob S.

Congratulations Mrs. Emily Reeves, our St. Charles Borromeo Christ the Teacher Award Recipient!
We are very proud to have Mrs. Reeves as our recipient this year! Mrs. Reeves has been teaching for 13 years, the past 9 years with us here at St. Charles, three years before that with Queen of Angels, and a first year at Harris Elementary. She is a dedicated professional who daily cares for and motivates her students and models for them the light of Christ!  As one parent wrote, Mrs. Reeves is dedicated to her students. She goes out of her way and puts in extra time to make sure her students understand math and aren’t discouraged or overwhelmed by math.” While another wrote, “She has an outstanding positive attitude!! My girl likes learning now!! St. Charles Borromeo School is blessed to have her on staff.”
Mrs. Reeves graciously agreed to share a little of herself and her family.  I was born and raised in Ft. Wayne, the oldest of 3 children - myself, twin sister Amber, and younger sister Lindsay. Amber also teaches here at St. Charles. I  attended St Charles and then Bishop Dwenger High School, and graduated from Ball State University with a degree in elementary/intermediate education. My husband, Dustin and I have two children, daughter Harper Grace in grade 2 and son Ryan Michael who is in PreKindergarten. Both attend St. Charles. My favorite things about teaching in a Catholic school are celebrating Mass, sharing prayer with my students, and the great sense of community we have. Even though St. Charles is a large school, each year our fifth grade students and teachers make it feel like a small family.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am very appreciative to be the Christ the Teacher recipient this year!  As you can see, the commitment to our faith and to our students is evident.  Again, congratulations Mrs. Reeves!

St. Charles Borromeo School Students Assist Catholic Charities this Christmas! -Gift Cards please!
Catholic Charities does much to support families in need throughout our diocese. For Christmas giving, they have offered the opportunity to adopt a specific family or to donate gift cards which can be supplied to families with specific needs. They are accepting donated gift cards and limited material items most requested by families in need.  Donated gift cards, in lieu of wrapped and unwrapped gifts, will be distributed to families served by Catholic Charities who are experiencing challenges in meeting basic needs such as food, warm clothing, rent or utilities. This way they can be assured that children and other vulnerable persons served are housed and warm during the Christmas season.
Examples of most needed gift cards include:
>  Grocery or multi-purpose stores gift cards (e.g., Kroger, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Target)
>  Gas cards & Citilink bus passes  (i.e., fuel for transportation)
Our regular weekly collections at Mass through December 15 will be used to purchase gift cards for Catholic Charities. Anything extra which you would like to donate to this cause will be gratefully accepted. Please send gift cards to the school office marked Catholic Charities. When doing your family shopping, please consider purchasing a gift card for these people in need. Christmastime is indeed a time of year to rejoice and celebrate. As a Catholic organization, Catholic Charities appreciates our desire to give to others reminiscent of the gifts the Wise Men brought to the baby Jesus. Thank you for your assistance.
