Upcoming Schedule Changes
Sat December 18 - Mon January 3 -  No School - Christmas Break
Tuesday, January 11th - One Hour Delay Students report to school by 8:50 a.m.  [Diocesan Curriculum Time]

Dear Parents and Students -  I hope you are well! Thank you to all of our students, parents, and staff who contributed to our annual Catholic Charities collection to help our adopted Christmas families as nearly $1,600 was donated! We are moving very quickly towards Christmas and along with that the end of the first semester of the school year. I am looking forward to a productive and Holy Spirit-filled last week of school. Please notice the first printing of the 2021-2022 major calendar dates below and continue to keep all in our school community in your daily prayers. We all need one another’s prayers! Thank you for your children!  Sincerely - Rob S.
1. How nice it was! The Christmas Pageant “O Come Emmanuel” performed last night in front of a full house was excellent! The students were well prepared as they knocked both the afternoon dress rehearsal and the main evening performance out of the park! Clearly delivered lines and beautiful, beautiful singing of traditional Christmas hymns!  Coupled with the biblical retelling of the birth of our Savior, the performance put everyone in attendance into the spirit of the true meaning of Christmas! Thank you to our Directors - Mrs. Tippmann, Mrs. McGaw, Mrs. Schipper, and Mr. Hoy - for all the long and good work they put into the production. Thank you to the parents, staff, and volunteers who helped behind the scenes. Finally, thank you and congratulations to our students for working hard and rising to the challenge of such a wonderful show!
Dress down day Monday for the cast, crew, and directors of the Christmas Pageant!  Make a note.
2. St. Charles Athletic Association Pancake Breakfast with Santa this Sunday! - Pancakes & sausage will be served on Sunday, Dec. 12th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm in the school cafeteria. Prices are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Enjoy delicious food, fellowship, and a visit with Santa! This benefits St. Charles Borromeo Athletics.
3. Beginning Band - Any grade 4 student, as well as older students, with an interest in music, is invited to join the beginning band. We held a parent information meeting on Tuesday, December 7 but there is still time to join. Contact the school office to schedule a time slot to have their student “fitted” for an instrument and then arrange an instrument rental if needed. Student instrument fitting will be held Tuesday, January 11, beginning at 4:00 pm. All students interested in joining the band must have an appointment for a fitting on this day. Students have the opportunity to rent instruments at this January meeting so that they have them for the first day band class which will be the week of January 17.

About the Fog this morning! It still is foggy at 2:15 p.m. as we wrap up this newsletter, so definitely a big fog day.  The issue this morning was not the reality of fog, but the time when it moved into our immediate school surroundings.  We were clear within a few miles of the school in the morning and then it rolled in later. That puts us in a bind as a late delay call for fog catches half the people in between coming and going. I appreciate everyone taking their time and finding their way carefully. Please know that as parents, you are empowered to make safety transportation decisions as needed. Simply communicate with the office and let us know that you are safe. Thank you. -Rob S.

School Closings and Delays - St. Charles announces our own school weather delays and closings. St. Charles will post delay and closing announcements on the local ABC, NBC, and CBS television stations. We will also use SchoolMessenger to push out text and/or email messages to each family.  Additionally, our school website will have an alert message posted with the latest delays or closings and the message will be on our school phone as a recorded message.

Text Alerts- School Messenger - Do we have your current cell phone number?  Have you been receiving texts?
Are you receiving the St. Charles messages? In order to receive text alerts from St. Charles about weather delays/cancellations and other important announcements, your cell phone number needs to be in our system. Then, you can text “yes” to 67587. You will receive a confirmation text and will be added to the text list. The process could take a few days. Text messages are sent for delays and cancellations, school emergencies and other important school messages.  If you have not been receiving texts, but would like to receive them, please call the school and share your name and cell number, or email the information to us & we will add your number.
