Upcoming Schedule Changes
Sat December 18 - Mon January 3 -  No School                   Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Tuesday, January 11th -  One Hour Delay Students report to school by 8:50 a.m.  [Diocesan Curriculum Time]

Dear Parents and Students -  May your Advent season be full of love and light. And, may we all give more light and love than we receive.  Thank you for sending your children to our St. Charles Borromeo School! We are lucky to have them with us! Some items:
1. A little elf told me that last night I missed a SMASHING Christmas Concert! The music was Christmassy hot and Mr. Hoersten’s jokes were hilarious! Congratulations and thank you to our Band and Orchestra students who put energy and work into honing their musical skills. Thank you also to Ms. Bassett and Mrs. Ensley for preparing the students so well! Well done!
2. Please continue praying for our Grade 2 students! They receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation on Saturday, December Dec. 4th, at 10:30 a.m. in the Church.  Tomorrow is the big day, and the students are nervous but excited to receive the sacrament for the first time. Thank you teachers and parents for encouraging and supporting them so well. What a great lifelong gift of grace and redemption our students will receive for the first time of many more to come!
3. Beginning Band - Any grade 4 student, as well as older students, with an interest in music, is invited to join the beginning band. We are holding a parent information meeting on Tuesday, December 7, from 6:00-6:25 p.m. in the band room. At this meeting, parents will schedule a specific time slot to have their student “fitted” for an instrument and then arrange an instrument rental if needed. Student instrument fitting will be held Tuesday, January 11, beginning at 4:00 pm. The Band Room is located on the lower level of the Hession Center. Please enter the school at door #3 (near the gym) and the posted signs will direct you to the South Stairs and the Band Room. If you are unable to do stairs, please see the custodian for directions to the elevator. All students interested in joining the band must have an appointment for a fitting on this day. Students have the opportunity to rent instruments at this January meeting so that they have them for the first day band class which will be the week of January 17.
4. Christmas Musical - St. Charles School students from grades 3-4-5 will perform a Christmas musical, O Come Emmanuel.  This is a biblical retelling of the birth of our Savior. The performance of this show is Thursday, December 9, at 7:00 pm in the Hession Center gym. The doors will open at 6:30 pm. (If there is inclement weather, the show will be Friday at 7:00 pm) Admission is free.  This is a wonderful way to prepare our hearts and spirits for Jesus' birth in our lives each and every day! Please plan on spending some time supporting these budding thespians and enjoying an evening out! Audience members are asked to sit with their families and allow for social distancing between family groupings.  For those not fully vaccinated, masks are not required but are encouraged.
5. St. Charles Athletic Association Pancake Breakfast with Santa! - Pancakes & sausage will be served on Sunday, Dec. 12th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm in the school cafeteria. Prices are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Enjoy delicious food, fellowship, and a visit with Santa! This benefits St. Charles Borromeo Athletics.
6. Mullet News Flash! Billy Ray Cyrus called and he wants his mullet back! Out of respect for Billy Ray, I’m sunsetting mullets in school for another 20 years.  So enjoy the do over Christmas then trim things up for the New Year! New Year = No mullet!
