Dear Parents and Students - I hope you are well! We had a beautiful all-school Mass this morning with our 6th grade students carrying candles into a dimly lit Church in celebrating the Feast of the Presentation of the infant Jesus by Mary and Joseph at the Temple in Jerusalem. This Feast marks the 40th day after Christmas and is a day that many Catholic families traditionally dispose of (or take down) their Christmas trees.
Additionally, this February 2nd Mass is known as the ‘Candlemas’ or simply The Blessing of the Candles. The solemn candle procession of the 6th grade students represented the entry of Christ, who is the light of the world, into the Temple of Jerusalem. The procession is always kept on February 2, even when the office and Mass of the feast is transferred to February 3.
In closing, I would like to thank everyone for making this a wonderful Catholic Schools Week! Please continue to pray daily for all in our school community. Thank you for choosing Catholic education for your children & for selecting St. Charles Borromeo School. -Rob S.
