November 4th, we will celebrate the Feast of St. Charles Borromeo, Sr. Genevieve’s birthday, and a Confirmation Mass for our 8th Grade Students at 7:00 p.m. with Bishop Rhoades presiding! All are welcome!  Our grade 4 students dressed in their saints costumes and their teachers will lead our Feast Day Mass celebration in the morning! The Mass will be streamed to our classrooms so that all of the students can fully participate spiritually in union with the Mass. I thank Sr. Genevieve in advance for faithfully serving our school children for 39 years. God’s blessings on her Birthday!!
Finally, I ask that you join our school community this week in daily prayer for our 8th grade students who will step forward to receive the Seal and Gifts of the Holy Spirit Thursday evening. The students, under the direction of their Teachers and Parents, have worked faithfully to prepare for this Sacrament and we are very proud of them. The world needs Christian warriors and we pray that these young people will be filled with Gifts of the Holy Spirit and embrace the Word, presently as young adults, and in the future as adults and leaders within the Catholic Church! The Confirmation Mass will be live-streamed for all who cannot attend, but would like to join in spirit. Dear Parents and Students -  I hope you are well. I am writing this Thursday afternoon as the rain has just begun to fall. Sr. Genevieve, Mr. Hoersten, our Faculty, and I have enjoyed seeing all of you and your children coming in for conferences today and yesterday. We are very lucky to have such a dedicated faculty & staff, strong parental support, and so many good young people who make up our school community.  I know I speak for Sr. Genevieve and Kevin when I tell you that we are blessed to be part of this school. Thank you.
Yesterday an unexpected visitor stopped in to speak with me. She just wanted to briefly update me on the progress of her daughter, share recent blessings in her life, and ultimately to thank St. Charles for being such a stable and supportive part of both of their lives over the past two decades.  I humbly thanked her for her kind words, but I really didn’t have time to process the beauty of her act as I had another parent waiting to speak with me. But wow, out of the blue, to just walk in after nine years to say ‘Thank you’.  Three, maybe four minutes of conversation, and back out into the blue, as I moved on to the next person.
I have been thinking about her kind deed - her ‘action’ and I am encouraged to take more ‘action’ myself. Sometimes I intend to visit someone, send a card, or simply call or text, but I don’t. I always regret it later. Prayers are great, but . . . taking the time to reach out in person or with a word, a card, a flower or small gift - that helps to make life meaningful.  Yes, the Pandemic has taken some of the personal away, but even that excuse is ending. I encourage all of us to jot down a few people we should reach out to this week and ‘act’ . . . connect in some meaningful way. No more excuses. No more regrets. Thank you for your children. -Rob S.

School Closings and Delays - St. Charles announces our own school weather delays and closings. St. Charles will post delay and closing announcements on the local ABC, NBC, and CBS television stations. We will also use SchoolMessenger to push out text and/or email messages to each family.  Additionally, our school website will have an alert message posted with the latest delays or closings and the message will be on our school phone as a recorded message.
Text Alerts- School Messenger - Do we have your current cell phone number?  Have you been receiving texts?
Are you receiving the St. Charles messages? In order to receive text alerts from St. Charles about weather delays/cancellations and other important announcements, your cell phone number needs to be in our system. Then, you can text “yes” to 67587. You will receive a confirmation text and will be added to the text list. The process could take a few days. Text messages are sent for delays and cancellations, school emergencies and other important school messages.  If you have not been receiving texts, but would like to receive them, please call the school and share your name and cell number, or email the information to us & we will add your number.
