During the month of January, we ‘press on’ As God’s Temple. The virtue of modesty means being comfortable with yourself. It is knowing you have special gifts and that others do as well. The virtue of self-control means observing our feelings and thoughts, then deciding how we are going to act. When practicing self-control, we are controlling our own behavior so others don’t have to. Self-control brings us freedom. As we Press On As God’s Temple, we are respectful of ourselves and others and with self-control, life is more peaceful..
“For we are the temple of the living God; as God said: ‘I will live with them and move among them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people.’” 2 Corinthians 6:16b
“Like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:5
