Dear Parents and Students - Saturday, November 11th, marks Veterans Day across the U.S.. May God bless and protect all living Veterans and grant his mercy upon the souls of all our departed Veterans! -Amen

History of Veterans Day - World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” – officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”

Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. See a timeline of the history of Veterans Day on page 3-4.  See you at Turkey Bingo! -Rob S.

SAVE THE DATE!  February 3rd, 2024 BORROMEO BASH
The planning of this fun night of fellowship is underway and once again we are asking for donations from this most generous parish.  If you would like to donate an item for the silent or live auction, or be a sponsor, or make a monetary donation let us know.  You can reach out to a committee member or send an email to borromeobash@gmail.com   Again this year, we are asking for donations of gift cards for prizes. If you would like to pick up a gift card while at the grocery store or dining out, you can place the gift card in an envelope and drop it in the collection basket or send it into school with ‘Borromeo Bash’ written on the envelope.  The letter attached to this newsletter explains how beneficial this event has been for our school and we know this year will be just as great!  A detailed letter of the events can be found on pgs. 6-7 of this newsletter. We hope to see you there! Thank you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER GENEVIEVE!! We celebrated Sister Genevieve’s birthday this past week, actually on the Feast of St. Charles. We had a custom print made with some things that are special to her. The artist was honored to make such a special gift and didn’t charge us in hopes we could spread the word of her new company. The name is Ash and Soul, they are on Facebook or on their website https://ashandsoul.com.
