Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. Psalm 107:1-3

Dear Parents and Students  -  I hope you are well.  On behalf of our Pastor, Fr. Tom, Frs. James and Bobbie, Sr. Genevieve, Mr. Hoersten, and all of our Faculty and Staff, we would like to wish you and your families a very blessed Thanksgiving!  Please keep all in our school community in prayer at this time of great Thanksgiving to God. Even with the troubles in the world or in our lives - we all have blessings that God has given to us. We are very thankful to have all of you as part of our St. Charles School Community! May the peace and hope of Christ be with your families & your hearts be filled with peace & Thanksgiving at this time of year!  Sincerely -Rob S.

A few reminders:
1. Thank you for your generosity in helping with the Franciscan Center Turkey drive! We raised over $1,700 to help with families in need, sending $1,300 to the Franciscan Ctr., while assisting Ave Maria House who also reached out with great need!  Fantastic work! This means that students & staff will have a dress down day on Tuesday, November 21st and another when we return on Monday, Nov. 27th!
2. Grandparents/Special Persons Day! - St. Charles’ annual Special Person’s Day is Monday, November 20. Students in 1st & 2nd grades have invited grandparents or other persons special in their lives to visit at school from 8:15 to approximately 10:20 that morning. Special guests are asked to park in the large church parking lot and enter the school through door #3 (gym entrance) or door #9 (cafeteria entrance) and meet the children in the classroom by 8:00 am. The children will be walking from the classroom to church to attend the 8:15 am Mass with their guests. Following Mass, the special guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a specially prepared program and to spend some time with their student. The students are looking forward to this special day to share with guests!

School Closings and Delays - St. Charles announces our own school weather delays and closings. St. Charles will post delay and closing announcements on the local ABC, NBC, and CBS television stations. We will also use SchoolMessenger to push out text and/or email messages to each family.  Additionally, our school website will have an alert message posted with the latest delays or closings.

Text Alerts- School Messenger - Do we have your current cell phone number?  Have you been receiving texts?
Are you receiving the St. Charles messages? In order to receive text alerts from St. Charles about weather delays/cancellations and other important announcements, your cell phone number needs to be in our system. Then, you can text “yes” to 67587. You will receive a confirmation text and will be added to the text list. The process could take a few days. Text messages are sent for delays and cancellations, school emergencies and other important school messages.  If you have not been receiving texts, but would like to receive them, please call the school and share your name and cell number, or email the information to us & we will add your number.

St. Charles Borromeo School Students Assist Catholic Charities this Christmas! - Gift Cards please!
Catholic Charities does much to support families in need throughout our diocese. For Christmas giving, they have offered the opportunity to adopt a specific family or to donate gift cards which can be supplied to families with specific needs. They are accepting donated gift cards and limited material items most requested by families in need.  Donated gift cards, in lieu of wrapped and unwrapped gifts, will be distributed to families served by Catholic Charities who are experiencing challenges in meeting basic needs such as food, warm clothing, rent or utilities. This way they can be assured that children and other vulnerable persons served are housed and warm during the Christmas season.
Examples of most needed gift cards include:|
>  Grocery or multi-purpose stores gift cards (e.g., Kroger, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Target)
>  Gas cards & Citilink bus passes  (i.e., fuel for transportation)
Our regular weekly collections at Mass through December 15 will be used to purchase gift cards for Catholic Charities. Anything extra which you would like to donate to this cause will be gratefully accepted. Please send gift cards to the school office marked Catholic Charities. When doing your family shopping, please consider purchasing a gift card for these people in need. Christmastime is indeed a time of year to rejoice and celebrate. As a Catholic organization, Catholic Charities appreciates our desire to give to others reminiscent of the gifts the Wise Men brought to the baby Jesus. Thank you for your assistance.
