Winter Christmas Concert! - St. Charles School Fine Arts' students perform their annual Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 2, at 7:00 pm in the Hession Center gym. This concert is free of charge for all and is a wonderful way to prepare for the sacred seasons of Advent and Christmas. Students in the intermediate and advanced bands will perform several selections each. The string orchestra is composed of violin, viola and cello students who perform at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Please plan on an hour of enjoyable entertainment and support the school fine arts' programs. 7:00pm marks the beginning, but there is no ending to the enjoyment you will experience! Audience members are asked to sit with their families and allow for social distancing between family groupings. For those not fully vaccinated, masks are not required but are encouraged.
Gift the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) - Help Students & Receive a 50% State of Indiana Tax Credit! Giving a gift to the SGO is a wonderful way to support St. Charles Borromeo School and receive some great tax benefits. Since its inception in 2012, our school has received over $200,000 for tuition assistance from generous individual and corporate donors! If you are considering a donation to the SGO for this year 2021, please process your gift in advance of the year-end deadline. The tax credit certification number must be established prior to the end of day December 31. Requests received after December 31st will be applied to the 2022 tax year. Please pray for our second-grade students who will be receiving the Sacrament of First Reconciliation on Saturday, December Dec. 4th, at 10:30 a.m. in the Church. The students have been studying diligently and praying like little angels in preparation for this big day. They are nervous but excited to receive the sacrament for the first time. I thank their teachers and parents for encouraging and supporting them so well. What a wonderful Faith example you provide. May everyone have a Blessed Advent, and may we all remember to turn to God for hope and encouragement daily.
St. Charles Athletic Association Pancake Breakfast with Santa! - Pancakes & sausage will be served on Sunday, Dec. 12th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm in the school cafeteria. All the pancakes you can eat and a chance to talk to Santa! All proceeds go to the Athletic Association. Come & see Santa!
School Nurse Subs Needed - Believe it or not, Nurse Tippmann does not live at school! She is looking for additional nurses who would be available to sub a day or two during the school year. We have some great parent nurses who help when they can, but of course, nurses are in high demand. Beginning Band - Any grade 4 student, as well as older students, with an interest in music, is invited to join the beginning band. We are holding a parent information meeting on Tuesday, December 7, from 6:00-6:25 p.m. in the band room. At this meeting, parents will schedule a specific time slot to have their student “fitted” for an instrument and then arrange an instrument rental if needed. Student instrument fitting will be held Tuesday, January 11, beginning at 4:00 pm. The Band Room is located on the lower level of the Hession Center. Please enter the school at door #3 (near the gym) and the posted signs will direct you to the South Stairs and the Band Room. If you are unable to do stairs, please see the custodian for directions to the elevator. All students interested in joining the band must have an appointment for a fitting on this day. Students have the opportunity to rent instruments at this January meeting so that they have them for the first day band class which will be the week of January 17.
Christmas Musical - St. Charles School students from grades 3-4-5 will perform a Christmas musical, O Come Emmanuel. This is a biblical retelling of the birth of our Savior. The performance of this show is Thursday, December 9, at 7:00 pm in the Hession Center gym. The doors will open at 6:30 pm. (If there is inclement weather, the show will be Friday at 7:00 pm) Admission is free. This is a wonderful way to prepare our hearts and spirits for Jesus' birth in our lives each and every day! Please plan on spending some time supporting these budding thespians and enjoying an evening out!
