Christ the Teacher Award! Nominate a Great Teacher! Know some Great Teachers here at St. Charles? Tell us about them! Click the link for the Christ the Teacher Nomination Form (Formerly the Light of Learning Award) nomination form by Friday, November 4 and tell us who you appreciate!

Dear Parents and Students - Thank you for visiting and conferencing with our Teachers. I know that they were excited to speak with the parents of their students, so thank you for taking the time to build those personal relationships. We are all still building back towards normal in our families and within the school systems. We will always be a work in progress, but our goals include promoting strong relationships and a healthy balance between school and family, ensuring spiritual growth through the teachings of our Catholic faith, and establishing a strong academic foundation for our students as they move onto high school. Thank you again for visiting! If you ever have questions or concerns or ideas, please feel free to reach out to teachers and to Sr. Genevieve, Mr. Hoersten, or me.
The following are a few reminders to put on your calendars and to-do lists:
1. PUT ON SOME PANTS FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE! The last day for student shorts will be this Friday, November 4th. No shorts beginning Monday, November 7th. Please have your children try on their pants this weekend and see if Junior or Yumi have outgrown them. If so, this will give you next week to go out and buy a few new pairs of pants.
2. While you are checking pants, PLEASE CHECK YOUR DAUGHTERS’ SKIRT LENGTHS! Our students are constantly growing, and some of our girls’ growth has outpaced the length of their skirts. A few are wading into miniskirt space.  Please adjust accordingly as the handbook asks for skirt length to the knees, understanding that there is room for 4-5 inches above with growth. However, if we start the length at 7 inches above the knee and grow another 5, well a foot is way too short.
3. The FEAST OF ALL SAINTS - a Holy Day of Obligation - is Tuesday, November 1st. Our grade 4 students will be dressed as Saints for the Mass, which will provide a special touch at the 8:15 all-school Mass. All are welcome to attend!
4. PARENTS INVITED! - Sgt. Mark Gerardot is coming to Bishop Dwenger High School on Thursday, November 3 at 6:30 pm in the Main Gym to discuss with parents the very real dangers of fentanyl in our society. Sgt. Gerardot spoke to all the BDHS students a few weeks ago and was well received. BD parents inquired about a parent session, so this has been arranged. The invitation has been extended to the parish elementary school parents as well. In addition to speaking about the dangers of fentanyl, he will also speak about the dangers of vaping and other drugs that are prevalent and easily accessible to our children. All parents are welcome to attend. Please enter BDHS gym through doors 4 and 5.
5. The FEAST OF ALL SOULS is celebrated on Wednesday, November 2nd. November is traditionally an especially important month to pray for those in purgatory, and many visit the graves of the departed on this day. We pray for those souls who have attained Eternal Life (the Saints), followed by those who are assured of Heaven but not quite ready for it, because of sins for which they have not fully satisfied Divine Justice here on earth. Our Lord promised St. Gertrude the Great, a Benedictine nun and mystic who lived in the 13th century that 1000 souls would be released from Purgatory each time she said the following prayer devoutly. This is a great prayer for focusing on helping the Holy Souls in Purgatory, our families, and all in the world:  Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
6. The FEAST OF ST. CHARLES BORROMEO is celebrated on Friday, November 4th. We will celebrate our Patron Saint with an all-school Mass at 8:15 a.m. All are welcome to attend!
